The Beaches Museum will host Billy Dettlaff, former TPC Sawgrass National Director of Golf, as he shares his Boardwalk Talk: The History of Golf in Florida. This talk will take place Thursday May 3 at 6 p.m. in the Beaches Museum Chapel.

Dettlaff began his PGA professional career in November 1981, attaining the highest honor of Master Professional in 1988. He has remained active in the PGA serving on Chapter, Section, and National levels, and has authored two books on the sport: Doctors of the Game, and the PGA of America’s Official Centennial Book. Dettlaff has also given golf lectures throughout the United States and Scotland.

The Boardwalk Talk will explore the role that golf has played in the history of Florida and the local community. The popularity of the sport is exhibited during the PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass. Held every year in May, the PLAYERS Championship remains the most highly anticipated and highest grossing event of the PGA TOUR.

Boardwalk Talks are held in the historic Beaches Museum Chapel and are free to Museum members with a suggested $5 donation for non-members. Please call 904-241-5657 for further information.
