Beaches Museum
From the Timucuan to trawlers, French settlement to the ferryboat Jean LaFitte, this exhibit will look at the often tumultuous history of Mayport Village. Where the St. Johns River meets the Atlantic Ocean, the impact of the water, the Naval Station and the currents of public opinion have influenced a once vibrant and colorful community. How will its history affect its future?
August 11 – Exhibit Opening Reception, 6-8 p.m. Stop by for a first look at the exhibit, some steamed shrimp and a chance to meet the people who made the exhibit possible.
August 27 – Mayport Village Storytellers, 1 p.m. Come hear tales (some taller than others) of life and adventure in the Village.
September 10 – Riding the Rails: Pablo Beach Train Day, 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Visit the History Park for an incredible day of all things trains!
October 13 – Special Feature! 5:30 p.m. Screening of The Flying Ace in partnership with Norman Studios, at the Museum Chapel.
October 27 – Boardwalk Talk, 5:30 p.m. Johnny Woodhouse shares the story of the sinking of the Donald Ray.
October 30 – Mayport Cemetery Tour, 1 p.m. Take a historic walk through the Mayport-Pablo Cemetery (Reservations required).
