Boardwalk Talk: Johnny Woodhouse

October 27, 2016 - 5:30 pm -7:30 pm

Beaches Museum

The Beaches Museum is honored to present Boardwalk Talk: Johnny Woodhouse.  Johnny recently left his position as Associate Editor with the Beaches Leader. Fortunately for us, he has volunteered to contribute columns to our newsletter as well as continue his very popular Cemetery Tours, among other things! During his Boardwalk Talk he will retell the events of the sinking of the trawler, Donald Ray when it was caught in a freak storm in March 1957.

This Boardwalk Talk will be presented in the Dickinson Gallery, site of the current Mayport Village exhibit. For those not familiar with the saga of the Donald Ray, Johnny will provide a general overview during his talk. The presentation will also include a detailed description of the landmark lawsuit brought against the U.S. government in 1960, which resulted in a $170,000 settlement to the victims’ families. Please join us for what is sure to be a captivating evening.

This event is free to Beaches Museum Members, $5 for non-members. Please call 904-241-5657 for additional details.
