Two that can't be missed:

Ponte Vedra Beach - A History - by Maurice J. Robinson

This book covers extensively the history of the community that was nothing more than a marsh area during pre-European exploration and settlement. The history covers the native people that lived there, the Spanish explorers, the Scottish outlaws, the Palm Valley moonshiners, period of mineral mining, on through its revamping into the world-renowned Sawgrass that we know today. The book has lots of photographs, some maps, and lots of easy reading text. The book is complete with a chronological Appendix, Notes, and Resource information. The book is printed in black and white, with a color cover painting by Ellen Diamond. Printed by The History Press. Price $24.90.

The Beaches - A History Tour - by Neil McGuiness

A book covering the history of the beaches communities on San Pablo Island, Florida, including St. Augustine to the south, Ft. George Island to the north, and Queens Harbor to the west. The communities of Vilano Beach, Palm Valley, Ponte Vedra Beach, Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach, Atlantic Beach, and Mayport Village, are all covered in sufficient detail. The "Beaches" history starts in 1562 and continues to the more recent times. The book is filled with lots of black and white photographs, several maps, and a few graphics. The book does not skimp on well written text to accompany the images. The only problem I can see is that if you start reading, it is hard to put it down. You should be able to cover the entire book in a weekend. The book makes an especially great gift for anyone ever connected to the "Beaches" communities. Without a doubt, anyone will thoroughly enjoy this mesmerizing book. Printed by Hartley Press. Price $19.95
