The Beaches Museum along with the Lazzara Family Foundation presents Sugaray Rayford the 2019 recipient of the “Soul Blues Male Artist” won at the 40th Annual Blue Music Awards in Memphis, Tennessee. The Blues Music Awards brings together Blues performers, industry representatives, and fans from all over the world to celebrate the best in Blues recordings and performances from the previous year. The BMA’s are generally recognized as the highest honor given to blues musicians and are awarded by vote of Blues Foundation members.

Rayford is in the midst of an international tour to promote his new album “Somebody Save Me” which currently sits at #1 on the Living Blues Charts. Living Blues magazine states “Sugaray Rayford is a soul singer who brilliantly weaves blues, jazz and gospel inflections into his soaring songs.”

At 6’5” and 300 pounds, this cigar chomping ex-Marine with a voice like a force of nature holds court in any room he enters. Possessing a magnetic personality and an old school vocal style that echoes Muddy Waters, Otis Redding and Teddy Pendergrass, Rayford is also a stellar dancer with moves reminiscent of the Legendary James Brown. In the studio and in person, Sugaray Rayford is developing a reputation as a force to be reckoned with and an artist to watch in the coming years.
